The Phrozen Sonic XL 4K Plus is a professional LCD-based MSLA 3D printer that boasts a long-life monochrome LCD screen with ultra-high definition making it an advanced machine capable of creating remarkably detailed models with a speed of up to 90 mm/hr. Compared to its predecessor, the Sonic XL 4K 2022, the Plus model released in 2023 features a new mainboard system, improved heating technology, and substantial enhancement in build quality, providing more robust operation to withstand the demands of large-batch high-precision dental 3D printing. With a 9.3″ LCD panel, the Sonic XL 4K Plus provides a larger build plate which makes for enhanced printing capacity and efficiency. Among other smart features, the machine offers easy-to-use software bundled with the dedicated DS (Dental Synergy) slicer, seamless Wi-Fi connectivity, power outage recovery feature for uninterrupted printing, and built-in air purifier to reduce resin odor and ensure users’ safety during a printing process. The printer’s open material system allows using a wide range of consumables with different properties to get the desired outcomes.

Print quality

The Phrozen Sonic XL 4K Plus is a professional LCD 3D printer that can print layers at a minimum height of 10 microns, with an XY positioning accuracy of 52 µm. This way, you can produce objects with extremely smooth exterior surfaces, clean edges, and fine detailing.

To ensure consistent and stable model formations, the printer is equipped with a constant heater to maintain chamber temperature at the optimal 30 °C. The upgraded heating system aims for better heat distribution, mitigating any overheating damage and boosting print success rates. Due to the reliable door buffer and air filtration system, the whole workflow becomes even more effective and comfortable for the user.

Materials

The Phrozen Sonic XL 4K Plus offers a variety of materials to choose from. It is compatible with both self-developed and 3rd party 405 nm UV resins, including special dental ones. Thanks to its open material system, the printer gives the user a broad material choice for a wider number of professional tasks.

Build volume

The Phrozen Sonic XL 4K Plus offers a build area of 200 x 125 x 200 mm (7.9 x 4.9 x 7.9 in) that lets you produce fairly large parts as a whole or smaller items in large quantities in a single session. Capable of printing up to 8 full-arch models in ±35 minutes, the Sonic XL 4K Plus is your best choice when it comes to batch production.

Printer controls and software

The Sonic XL 4K Plus can be controlled via a built-in 5″ touch panel with a clear menu structure and user-friendly interface. Data input is performed through the USB port on the front of the device. Moreover, the printer features a few additional connectivity options, giving you the possibility to share your printing files via microSD, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi.

The machine comes with a free license of the Phrozen Dental Synergy (DS) Slicer by FormWare, which represents a complete dental 3D printing solution. This powerful yet intuitive software provides a variety of useful functions, the list of which includes automatic support generation, support drag-and-drop function, mesh hollowing, and lattice infill generation. All of them help you automate most of the file-prepping process and streamline in-clinic 3D printing workflow.
